What happens in February
Somehow I thought I had missed the harvest this year. Just before I went on holiday I saw signs of the start, but that was It's February already and we still haven't taken our Christmas tree down!
It still looks and smells
so Christmassy. If I had my way I'd probably keep it all
year. Jenny doesn't agree because she doesn't want the floor covered in pine needles.
There are still boxes of Christmas decorations lying around waiting to go into the
garage. Tomorrow is our day off so I know what we'll be doing.
So what's next?
Well, in February a week after all your Valentine cards are posted through your door (on the 14th) and the day after you've stuffed yourself with Pancakes (on the 21st) we have the beginning of Lent which is a time when we think of how God, at great cost to himself, has made it so simple for us to ask for and receive forgivenss for all the wrong things we do so we don't have to carry loads of guilt around with us all the time.
It does seem strange that very soon after celebrating Jesus being born, we think about Jesus dying. And then so soon after thinking about Jesus dying, we celebrate Jesus rising to new life!
And that's the wonderful thing about Jesus. He knows everything about life and death and what it's like to live after death too! So we don't have to be frightened of anything coz he's with us through everything!
So whatever happens through February and throughout the year, remember: Jesus is with you. Are you with him?
